Saint Francis, WI 53235 414-403-2599 lingenea@alverno.edu November 4, 2014 Ms. Shelley Andersen and Ms. Darlene Habanek Alverno College Education Department 3400 S. 43rd Street Milwaukee, WI 53234 Dear Ms. Andersen and Ms. Habanek, I have recently been informed by Aubrey Vogel that you will be the assessors for my LTM 640 Portfolio Assessment on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. Thank you very much for giving your time to review my work and determine my readiness to move on to student teaching. I appreciate your thoughtfulness and attention to this process. I am currently seeking licensure in middle and secondary Broadfield Social Studies. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from Alverno College and spent the next 12 years working as a recruiter for Catholic high schools. About four years ago, I had an opportunity at my current employer St. Joan Antida High School to step into the role of Dean of Students. I have enjoyed the ways that this role has allowed me to work with students and families much more directly. After only a few months in the new role, I realized that I wanted to move my career in a path that would allow me to stay in the classroom and education administration; that is what brought me to the LTM program. As I began to organize this portfolio, I wanted the design to reflect my belief that this is just the beginning of my collection of teaching artifacts. I know that I will continue to improve my practice for years to come in student teaching and eventually my own classroom with students. My hope is that my portfolio will be an ongoing project that will continue to grow and evolve along with my professional journey. To that end, creating a website seemed like the most logical current technology for presenting this information. I would like to invite you to look at the website of my portfolio at the following address: www.elizabethstengel-lingen.weebly.com Thank you in advance for your feedback on my portfolio and the work that it includes. I look forward to meeting you in person next week! Sincerely, Elizabeth Stengel-Lingen LTM 640 Portfolio Candidate
