Murphys Law
If you change lines in a supermarket, what will happen? The line you were in before will move
more quickly. You know what will happen because theres a law of life that says if something bad
can happen, it will happen. Its called Murphys Law, and it took its name from Captain Edward
Murphy, an American Airplane engineer in the 1940s. He was investigating why airplanes crashed,
and not surprisingly, he got a reputation for always thinking of the worst thing that can happen in
every situation.
At home
1. If you wash your car (Itll rain)
2. If you look for something you lost (Youll find it in the first place youd looked)
Social life
3. If you wear something white (Youll spill coffee on it)
4. If someone near you is smoking (The smoke will always go directly toward you)

8. If you get to the station and a train is just leaving (Itll be your train)
