Steps:
Pre- Listening
1. Pupils are asked to name animals that live and crawl on the ground.
2. Teacher shows picture of a worm and explains to pupils about worms.
While-Listening
1. Pupils listen to the presentation of the Power-Point A Thousand Legged Worm(audio)
2. Pupils follow and sing along with teacher.
3. Pupils in groups of four and gets them to sing in groups
Teacher pays attention to their pronunciation, rhythm and intonation.
Post-Listening
1. Pupils are given time to practise the song with action.
2. Pupils present the song with action.
3. Pupils are required to pronounce the words that has been deleted in the lyrics. (Note : the words
are still projected on the screen as a guideline for the students.)

Cross Curricular Elements: Multiple intelligence

Pre-Reading
1. Pupils are asked a few WH questions.
e.g: a) What animals live in the water?
2. Pupils respond to the questions asked by the teacher.
3. Teacher shows a picture of an eye and asks them to guess which animal that it belongs to. (Pupils
get clues from the teacher).
4. Pupils are introduced to the reading text on the screen. Some difficult words are explained to the
pupils.
While-Reading
(Note : Text is not shown at this point)
1. Pupils are put into groups and each group is given an envelope containing strips of sentences of
the story.
2. Pupils are required to arrange the sentence strips in the correct order.
3. Pupils read out the story and then teacher gives feedback.
Post-Reading
1. In groups pupils discuss and predict the outcome/ending of the story.
2. Group leader will present the predicted ending.
3. Teacher comments and gives feedback and reveals the actual ending of the story.

The Little Fish

One day, a little fish was out swimming in the river with her mother. The water was
clear and warm, but the little fish wanted to swim faster and go farther. So the little fish
swam on and on till she reached the riverbank. She looked, and there, growing on the bank,
she saw a large bean stalk and on the bean stalk, a big, fat bean. The little fish thought that
she had never seen anything so funny.
"Hello, Nemo," she called to the bean.
"Hello, Fargo," the bean called back.
The little fish felt very hurt .............................................................................................

Suggested answer: that she should be called that. She burst into tears and hurried off to
complain to her mother about it.

2. Pupils responses are written on the board and teacher explains what are nouns.
3. Pupils read the text again and identify the nouns by circling the common nouns.
4. Pupils are given a new task sheet containing sentences where they need to insert the nouns that
they indentified earlier.
