The Honorable Bill Cassidy M.D.

1131 Longworth HOB
Washington, DC 20515
Dear Congressman Cassidy M.D.:
My name is Daislynn Kimball and I am a registered critical care paramedic and future
childhood educator who resides in your district.
I am writing to you in regards to the Physical Activity or Physical Education in Schools
and School Recess Legislation. I believe this needs to be added to our local and state
legislation. In Louisiana, we participate in LA HB 214, LA HB 1, and SA SR 5; and I believe
that we need to take a step in a more active approach, as well as a nutritional approach.
There are only five states participating in this legislation, but I believe all children need
an increase in their daily activity.
I believe this issue is extremely important, investing in our childrens health and
wellness is investing in the future of Louisiana. Childhood obesity should be a major
concern to all community members because this leads to children having decrease selfesteem, increase chance of heart disease, diabetes, sleep apnea, and worst higher
chance of struggling with obesity as an adult. I work with children in extracurricular
activities on a volunteer basis; however, I believe their needs to be a change in the
public school system, where these children spend the majority of their day.
Congressman Cassidy, I feel as though you could relate to my personal feelings towards
this legislation because you have worked in the medical field. Please help to put a stop
against childhood obesity. One child at a time, I believe this is one fight that can be won!
Sincerely,
Daislynn Kimball
Bellaire Dr.
