Descriptions

The depicted scene is that of a traditional

French country home, capturing both the
interior of the home and the outdoors as
seen through a window frame.

We can see a woman setting (or clearing?)

the table. She is arranging some fruit on a
serving dish.

. Her attention is downward on the fruit

preparation.

She is wearing a black dress with white

cuffs, blue high collar, and a white apron.

Against the wall, is a wooden chair which is

painted a darker shade of red.

Two large areas of red: the wall and the

table cloth.

This principal color in the painting was

changed previously by the artist from green
to blue, and then to red.

A thin line defining the table cloth sets the

two areas apart.

Both areas are painted with the same floral

patterns using blue and black paint.

Personal reaction to the

painting

mana algoraishi

The first thing that struck me was the red

color of the painting, viewing it with an
emotional response.

my attention was attracted to its rich colors

and textures.

I can see that the table cloth and the

wallpaper both have the same decoration
and the same red color.

it is hard to tell what is the woman doing with

the fruits.

I try to figure out whether it is real scenery or

a picture hanged on wall .
