Monthly Book Assignment
1. Letter: write a one page letter to teacher including the following information:
About the book:
o Title, author, and a brief summary of the books plot.
o Choose one character in the book that you liked or disliked the most.
Describe this character and explain your feelings.
o How did this book compare to other books you have read?
o Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
About yourself as a reader:
o What, if anything, are you noticing about yourself as a reader that is
different from the way you read at the beginning of the term?
o Are your interests, skills, or habits changing in any way?
o What, if anything, is surprising you?
o What are your reading goals for this coming month?

2. Poster: choose six quotations from your book that you found interesting.
Divide a large sheet of paper into six sections, and copy one quotation onto each
section. Illustrate each quotation, either symbolically or literally; you may draw,
use magazine or newspaper pictures, or computer graphics. Be prepared to
explain your choice of quotations and illustrations.
