Smart Phones Arent as Bad as Everyone Thinks
Cell phones have become part of everyday lives. Everywhere we go we can see everyone on
their phones. Kids from 2 years old all the way up to 70 years old are using cell phones. People
will argue that cellphones are bad and that they are taking over our lives but I want to argue that
they arent all that bad. I want to show how they have made a positive impact on our lives and
how useful they have become, what they have to offer us, and what kind of role they play in this
generation.
When you go to the doctors now they will give you the opportunity to check your
medical records online. Most people in my generation, or young people, have a smartphone.
You can just open the internet and check your medical records right there or if you need to know
when your check up is you can just look it up on your phone instead of calling the office and
asking a bunch of times. If you cant remember when your last flu shot was, just look it up.
There are also other positive impacts like that. For example, you can do some research on a
paper you have to write or if youre just curious about something you can just Google it from
your phone.
The overall population, in this generation, has heard of Siri. Siri is a voice on your phone
that you can ask her anything and she can pull it up. You can ask Siri how far away the gas
station is for you or something totally random for example, why is the sky blue. She will pull
up internet resources and try her best to give you an answer.

Most smart phones have an app store. The app store has almost any app you can think of.
They have an app for almost everything and anything at this point in time. They have apps for
games, like shooting games or strategy games. There are even games for education. I taught a
Preschool class my junior year in high school. We used iPads with education apps for the five
and six year olds to play on. They played with math apps, matching games apps, and even
memory games. People hate to admit it but smart phones, iPads, and iPods are becoming a part
of our lives. The app store also has health apps, like heart monitoring app, apps that you can
keep track of your weight and even apps that count your calories for you. There are also bad
apps in the store like ones that lots of people get addicted to.
We rely on our phones more than we would like to admit. I use my phone for a lot of
useful things. I use it as an alarm clock in the morning to get up for school, I use my calendar so
I know when things are coming up that I need to do, and I use my to-do list for things that I need
to do that day so I wont forget. Smart phones have a lot to offer us like daily reminders and
calendars and creative ways we can come up with ideas for special events. I use my phone as a
photography camera and I have an app that edits my pictures for me to enhance them better. We
can share with family and friends things that are coming up that we wouldnt want other people
to know. Most smart phones now have a group text or groups chat so that you can talk to more
than one person at a time, without having to send each text to each individual person.
Overall, I have covered the three ways that smart phones are not all that bad in our lives
and that they are beneficial to us. They have made a positive impact on our lives, keeping in
touch with old friends and making new friends all around the world. They offer us so many
different apps that we can pick from and that we can use for the better good. And that they have
made it so that no matter where we go we can always count on our phones to remind us about

something important coming up or that we share with anyone and everyone what we are up to
and our interest in our lives. Phones will be something that will most definitely change the world,
and the phones will just continue to get smarter and offer us more and more. I recommend that
the those who think smartphones and other similar technology having a negative effect should
take a look at smart phones through a different set of eyes.
