Senator Cruz:
st

As an upcoming citizen in our society, a recently turned eighteen-year-old, and a long-time member of Texass 21 District, I
felt that it would be in my best interest to write to you concerning some of the legislature youve been pushing this year.
While I realize we come from very distinct settings with very distinct factors, I dont believe that those factors should hinder
the ability to have a proper discussion about our beliefs and political ideology, or the ability for me to learn more about what
youre fighting for.
For now, Id just like to address the Energy Renaissance Bill that you began pushing for back in March, regarding the
environment. After doing some reading on the bill from your site, Ive gained the understanding that your plan is to restart
the process of fracking, begin opening up new oil refineries, expand the territory of Alaska that were allowed to drill onto,
and stop the statewide regulation of greenhouse gasses. While I realize the massive benefits associated with this approach
(new jobs, less foreign reliance on oil) I also worry that this approach is a step in the backwards direction.
We as a people have the responsibility of understand our planet for what it is; a planet that is not limitless and can very well
be suffocated. Yes, there is sufficient proof that the greenhouse initiative is slow going and not extremely profitable, but thats
only in the short run. In the long run, there is massive support, and substantial evidence that we are on the verge of taking a
huge scary step in the right direction.
There is no change in this world that we are comfortable with until is has already happened. I have a massive amount of
respect for you as a senator, and I understand that it is integral in your belief system that we fall onto tradition and process
that this country has been built onto, but by ignoring the facts and focusing only on oil instead of waiting out the green
initiative, I fear that we may be shying away from a controversy that could advance our technology, and change our
environment, our global economy, and our standing in the world.

Sincerely,

Neel Agarwal
