Contamination testing of the drilling fluid is used to determine and analyze the degree of

contamination by water based mud. In this test, possible changes of mud properties whether it
is undesirable or desirable, can be detected. This is to ensure that the drilling fluid can be
treated if it is susceptible to contamination. Possible mud properties that can be analyzed are
the density, the viscosity and filtration.
Based on this experiment, three (3) properties of drilling fluid are needed to be
