Reflections Essay

I have grown as a writer in my Composition 1 class by being exposed to people who feel
an education is important, learning new grammar techniques/ rules, and writing essays that were
given critical feedback. Before I was attending college classes, I was attending high school. I was
surrounded by people who were forced to go to school and did not want to be there. Since I have
enrolled in college, I have been surrounded by people who are not being forced to go to school
and are actually paying to attend classes. The students in college take their education seriously
unlike most of the students in high school. This has caused to me also take my schooling
seriously and makes me strive to be the best student/ writer I can be. Between the three books we
were required to have for class and the many worksheets we were assigned, I have learned many
new grammar rules and techniques I did not know before. I am still flabbergasted that "I'm
good" is grammatically incorrect. Learning all these new grammar rules/ techniques has helped
me write better essays and even speak better. Another way I have grown as a writer is by getting
critical feedback after turning in my essays. After turning in an essays, my professor would not
only give us a final grade but also provide feedback. She would show us what exactly we were
missing and how to fix it. I was always able to look over all my mistakes and even revise my
essays to make them better. I have grown as a writer by taking Composition 1, I hope to grow
even more when I proceed to take Composition 2.
