LAHORE: The Punjab University Academic Staff Association condemned a fresh attack
by IJT hooligans on PU Law Colleges Assistant Professor Imran Alam and urged Punjab
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to take notice of continuous attacks on PU teachers and
protect them.

According to a press release issued on Saturday, while addressing an emergency press

conference at Executive Club, ASA office bearers including Vice President Dr Abid Hussain, Dr
Faheem Aftab, Dr Mahboob Hussain, Dr Muqeet Javed, Dr Sardar Iqbal and Imran Alam said
IJT goons had threatened Dr Alam a day before and on Friday at 7:30pm, they attacked his car
parked outside an office near Campus bridge.

They said a very few IJT members wanted to disrupt peaceful academic environment of the
varsity with the connivance of outsiders. They said police officials were not arresting the accused
IJT activists nominated in FIRs which was encouraging the IJT goons to continue such attacks.

They said in recent incidents of hooliganism, the IJT activists opened fire on the house of
Chairman Hall Council Prof Dr Muhammad Akhter on midnight of September 12, attacked the
car of lecturer of Institute of Communication Studies Ayesha Hakeem on October 17 and raided
the house of Department of Kashmiriats Assistant Prof Sardar Asghar Iqbal on November 11.
The ASA office bearers said a strict action must be taken against the culprits involved in the
incidents.
