Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including Conditions of Contract and Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 12 SUMMARY A. This Section includes equipment and accessories for building compressed-air systems operating at 1380 kPa and less. B. _ Related Sections include the following: 1. Division 15 Section "Basic Mechanical Materials and Methods" for equipment and accessory labels. Division 15 Section "Motors" for electric motors that are an integral part of packaged system components 3. Division 15 Section "Mechanical Identification” for equipment and accessory labels. 4. Division 15 Section "Compressed-Air Piping" for compressed-air piping and specialties 5. Division 15 Section "HVAC Instrumentation and Controls" for equipment, piping, and accessories for building temperature controls. 1.3 DEFINITIONS A. Low-Pressure, Compressed-Air Systems: ASME B31.9, "Building Services Piping," for systems operating at pressure of 860 kPa or less and at temperature of 93.3 deg. C or less. B. — Medium-Pressure, Compressed-Air Systems: ASME B31.1, "Power Piping," for systems operating at pressure between 860 and 1380kPa, or at temperature of more than 93.3 deg. C. 14 SUBMITTALS A. Product Data: For each model indicated. Include rated capacities of air compressors, aftercoolers, aic dryers, and accessories; shipping, installed, and operating weights; furnished specialties; and accessories. Indicate dimensions, required clearances, methods of assembly of components, and piping and wiring connections, B. Wiring Diagrams: For each item of equipment with electric power supply. Include tadder- type wiring diagrams for interlock and control wiring required for final installation. Differentiate between factory-installed and field-installed wiring. C. Coordination Drawings: For compressed-air equipment and piping, including relationship to other services that serve same work areas. Maintenance Data: For equipment to include in the maintenance manuals specified in Division 1. QUALITY ASSURANCE Product Options: Drawings indicate size, profiles, and dimensional requirements of compressed-air equipment and accessories and are based on specific types and models selected. Other products with equal performance characteristics, made by specified manufacturers, may be considered. Refer to Division 1 Section "Product Requirements.” Electrical Component Standard: Comply with latest and relevant IEC Codes and Standards. Provide listing/approval stamp, label, or other marking on equipment made to specified standards. Listing and Labeling: Provide equipment and accessories specified in this Section that are listed and labeled, WARRANTY ‘Manufacturer's Warranty: Provide 3 years written warranty, signed by the manufacturer agreeing to repair or replace any compressed air system components. Warranty shall cover failure due to normal conditions of use. DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING Deliver and store equipment and large accessories on factory-installed shipping skids and small accessories in factory-fabricated fiberboard containers. EXTRA MATERIALS Furnish extra materials described below that match products installed, are packaged with protective covering for storage, and are identified with labels describing contents. Deliver materials to the Employer. 1. Ait-Compressor, Inlet-Filter Elements: Equal to 100 percent of amount installed. PART 2- PRODUCTS 2.1 AIR COMPRESSORS, GENERAL A. General: Factory-assembled and -tested packaged units; simplex, duplex, or multiplex units; and with capacities, features, and electrical characteristics indicated, B. Noise: 75 dBA maximum sound level one meter from compressor unit. D. Construction of Equipment: ASME B19.1, "Safety Standard for Air Compressor Systems"; or ASME B19.3, "Safety Standard for Compressors for Process Industries", as appropriate. E. Control Panels: Automatic control station with load control and protection functions. Comply with relevant IEC standard, IBC 60439-1 and IEC 60947. 1. Mounting and Wiring: Factory installed and connected as an integral part of ‘equipment package. 2. Enclosure: 1P52. to IEC 60529 enclosures control panel, except where a higher degree of enclosure is specified or necessarily required. 3. Motor Controllers: Full-vottage, combination-magnetic type with undervoltage release feature and motor-circuit-protector-type disconnect and short-circuit protective device. a, Control Voltage: 230 V, AC or less, using integral control power transformer. b. Motor Overload Protection: Overload relay in each phase. cc. Starting Devices: Hand-off-automatic selector switch in cover of control panel, plus pilot device for automatic control as indicated 4. Automatic Alternating Starting: Switch lead compressor for duplex air compressors. c. Sequence (Lead-Lead-Lag) Starting: Switch lead compressor for multiplex air compressors f — Reduced-Voltage Starting: Instead of full-voltage starting, where indicated. 4, Instrumentation: Include air-receiver pressure gage, discharge-line pressure gage, a filter maintenance indicator, hour meter, compressor discharge air and coolant temperature gage, and control transformer. F. Receiver Tanks: ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, "Pressure Vessels” construction and bear appropriate code symbols, with pressure gage, pressure-reducing, valve, and automatic drain, 1. Exception: Omit receiver tank for freestanding air compressors and include receiver tank as an accessory where indicated. G. Factory Prepiping: Entire unit, except where otherwise indicated. 22 SAFETY VALVES ‘A. Safety Valves: Poppet type complying with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, bear appropriate labeling, and factory sealed after testing. 23 ROTARY-SCREW AIR COMPRESSORS A. Description: Single-stage, heavy-duty, asymmetrical, oil-free, rotary-screw air compressors with non-lubricated air-cooled screws. Include construction that prohibits oil from entering ‘compression chamber, B. Bearings: Separate axial and thrust antifriction bearings. C. Coupling: Non-lubricated, flexible type.
