This article is geared towards guitarists but is relevant to any musician. It discusses
the benefits of reading music while acknowledging why some musicians believe it is
more helpful. There are specific times the ability to read music comes in handy and

learning to read music and what can be done with the skill.

The horns primary purpose was for signaling. Referred to early on as hunting
horns, the first forms of the horn often gave a loud, obnoxious sound and were only
used in musical productions depicting a hunt. Eventually, the horn evolved and was
able to be used in more standard settings. Throughout the centuries, the horn
continued to evolve, and more and more valves were added for broader capabilities.

evident in Mozart. He is set to take revenge.

This article discusses music and copyright. Music is included as a copyrightprotected work and is one of the most restricted. There are many infringements to
copyright laws such as playing unauthorized music in public, plagiarism and music
sampling. A license is often needed to play certain music, use it in a classroom or use
something you did not personally compose. Furthermore, there are ways
individuals can protect music they have composed from being stolen and labeled as
someone elses.

Thomas gives an educational and interesting perspective on music and emotion. He
talks about music as a language, and as something that evokes emotion, regardless
of the genre. He talks about his fathers relation and understanding to music being
hearing impaired. Even people who cant read notes and dont understand the
mechanics behind symphonies, concertos, etc., can still connect to it emotionally and
on a personal level.

This website offers overviews and real music samples of different genres. Brief and
easy to navigate, this website also offers links for those want more information on
the artists listed and other sources about the genre. Although it may not be chockfull of information, its purpose is simply to give an idea of a genre to students who
may not have had previous experience with music at home.

This website samples different genres of music. It is appropriate and engaging,
especially for younger students. Since the website is a trusted source, pbs, there is
no need to worry about inappropriate pop-ups/ads, and should be available for
students to access in schools. This website provide a comprehensive and simplified
taste of different music genres for kids.

There are certain rules to abide by when acting as an audience member during a
performance. Talking during performance, cell phones ringing and leaving before a
performance is done are all examples of inappropriate audience behavior.
Expectations may be higher for the general public as opposed to a school
environment as far as audience behavior, but the general public is much harder to
control, while students can be directly taught and monitored.
