The Cooperative Housing Recruitment Process

The Cooperative Housing community holds recruitment at the beginning of the spring semester
each year. The recruitment process comprises two weekends: the first being formal recruitment
and the second being informal recruitment. Recruitment is available for both current and incoming
Purdue students.
Formal recruitment takes potential new members to each of the seven womens houses or five
mens houses for structured interaction with current house members. Following the formal
recruitment process, prospective students will be asked back to informal recruitment held the next
weekend.
During informal recruitment, prospective members are invited back to houses to get to know
current members in a more casual environment. Informal recruitment ends with prospective
women ranking their top three houses, and prospective men ranking the houses from 1 to 5. If
accepted to live in a Cooperative House following recruitment, prospective members will receive
a bid the week after informal recruitment and would live in that respective house the following
academic year. If a prospective member accepts a bid, they will be sent their contact to be able to
sign. This guarantees them a spot in the house.
The application for Cooperative Housing Recruitment is available online toward the end of each
fall semester. To apply or learn more about Cooperative Housing please visit
