Mr. Chiodini was a student of mine at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, He took the Secondary Social Studies Methods course from me where I had the opportunity to supervise his field experience. In addition, I supervised his student teaching experience at East Dubuque High School with Mr. Jared Deutsch, As a result, I have had the opportunity to see first-hand the attributes which will make him a very successful teacher. First, Mr. Chiodini is a highly skilled classroom teacher. I am impressed with his ability to keep students engaged by using a variety of teaching and learning strategies. These included teacher and student-centered instructional strategies. In addition, his students are eager to participate in classroom discussion and involved in the activities that he has planned for them. He is also able to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of the diverse learners found within his social studies classes by considering their leaming styles and their readiness or prior knowledge. Second, Michael is very skilled at classroom management. He is able to easily develop rapport with his students and keep his students on-task during the lesson. Most importantly, he is someone who is able to hold students accountable when necessary. It is also important to note that his enthusiasm for teaching is evident and certainly rubs off on his students, In addition, he has high expectations for his students and is familiar with the Rigor/Relevance Framework, 1 have also seen him use instructional technology and he is familiar with constructivist pedagogy. ‘Authentic Intellectual Work (AIW), cooperative leaming, and reading strategies are used too. Third, Mr. Chiodini has all of the necessary professional dispositions. I have always found him to be very coachable and is willing to follow through on any suggestions. He also dresses professionally and collaborates exceptionally well with his colleagues. I am certain he will also represent your school district well when he interacts with parents and other constituents, In addition, he is someone who is eager to learn, As a result, I am certain he will be interested in seeking out professional development opportunities offered by your school system. In summary, Michael Chiodini would be an asset to any faculty. He is a professional teacher, who is very passionate about teaching, and uses a variety of activities in his classroom.
