XLPE ARMOURED MEDIUM VOLTAGE (MV) 3.8/6.6(7.2) kV Up To and Including 19/33 (3.6) kV, Three Core Cables, XLPE Insulated, Armoured PVC Sheathed Cables 8 DESCRIPTION ‘Stranded circular compacted copper or aluminium conductors, XLPE insulated, copper tape screened, three cores assembled together with non-hygroscopic polypropylene fillers, covered with extruded bedding, armoured or unarmoured and PVC sheathed. Cables comply with IEC 60502.2. CONSTRUCTION Conductor Plain circular compacted copper or aluminium conductor to IEC 60228 class 2. 2. Conductor shielding Extruded layer of semiconductive compound. 3. Insulation XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) rated 90°C. Extruded layer of semiconductive material. 5. Metallic screen Copper tapes screen. 6. Inner sheath ‘Taped bedding for unarmoured cables, extruded PVC bedding for armoured cables.XLPE ARMOURED MEDIUM VOLTAGE (MV) 7. Armour Galvanized steel wires / tapes applied helically over the PVC bedding, 8. Outer sheath PVC type ST2 to IEC 60502-2 colour black. Colours for core identification Red, yellow and blue identification tapes applied between non-metallic and metallic part of insulation screen. APPLICATIONS These cables are generally suitable for direct burial or for installation on trays or ducts. Where there is a risk of mechanical damage, armoured cables should be used.
