HLA - Lifelong Wellness Application/Reflection Paper

Name _Dawn Bonker_______________ Course _HLAC 1145 Bowling I LW

Date ___November 18, 2014_
Write a paragraph (at least four sentences) on questions 1 3 (question 4 is optional):
1. What did you learn about lifelong wellness from taking this course?
I discovered that exercising can be fun and rewarding without being not too
exerting. Lifting the ball and throwing it down the lane strengthens the upper
body and helps with coordination and balance. I also learned patience while
waiting for others to bowl; even when I was anxious to finish my game. Bowling
stimulates your brain by focusing and concentrating on your movements to
make the ball go in the right direction.

2. How has learning about and applying lifelong wellness concepts impacted your life
(home, school, work, etc.)?
I feel that bowling can be incorporated in our family activities because it is fun
and creates a social environment. Staying active keeps you healthy and
potentially can help you to live longer. Demonstrating to my co-workers a
positive attitude about being active can help motivate others to do the same.
Keeping your mind stimulated can postpone or prevent dementia in your senior
years.

3. Discuss specific lifelong wellness concepts learned in this course and how you are going
to implement them in your life?
My intention going forward is to continue with staying active and making healthy
choices. Committing to activities that are fun and entertaining will motivate my
family to participate in group outings. Being an inspiration to my family will help
to create a healthier family unit. I work at Intermountain Healthcare Hospital
and this course reinforces the Live Well program that our company has
established for the employees to participate in by giving incentives to stay
healthy and live well.
