Laboratory Report Guidelines

The Laboratory Report


a. The word limit for each laboratory report is stated on the instruction sheet otherwise 1500- 2000
words maximum is required.
b. Each student has to research and write their own report
c. If two or more students produce the same report, that would be deemed as copying.

Resources for the Lab Reports


a. The reference lists provided on the laboratory sheets are not exhaustive.
b. You can use other Building Services Engineering Books in the library to obtain information for
your report
c. Use metalib.nottingham.edu.cn to access information from database like IHS Technical Indexes
Info4Education
d. IHS Technical Indexes Info4Education is a one stop resource for standards, regulations and product
information (Mainly on the Building Services Sector).
e. Search for materials on ebrary and IHS Technical Indexes Info4Education using keywords as you would
for information on www.google.com

You can also find information on the internet for your report.

g. Avoid using references from Wikis such as Wikipedia, Wikimedia etc as they can be updated by
anybody hence the information from these sources cannot be easily verified.
h. Any information you use from books, internet etc has to be referenced properly or it will be deemed
plagiarism.

Submission of Laboratory Reports


a. All laboratory reports should be submitted by the deadline date as posted on Moodle.
b. The submission procedure and time can be found in your handbook (make sure you follow the
instructions clearly as set out in your handbook).
