Saha 1 Victor Saha Professor Raymond UWRT 1103 - 03 29 September 2014 What is Saha? My name is Victor Saha. With no idle name and not a first name in any form related to my origins, only my last name “Saha” ties me to my family history. The name Saha is used to distinguish between different classes. Although the caste system isn’t really thought much of in present day, Saha is typically the merchant class in Bengali society. This means that they are typically the ones who own banks, businesses, and stores, ‘The nAime Saha originated in West Bengal and Bangladesh. Its a typical Bengali sumame ghd is passed on through family. In America, our name is just a name, We do not own any business or bank, In India, the name now has little meaning, Most of my family hes regular V9 ther than one of my uncles, who has a medical shop that is slowly dying, \J The Saha name also indicates the branch of Hinduism my family originates from. It indicates that we are part of the Vaishnav branch of Hinduism, therefore we are Vaishnavites. this branch include but are not limited to Krishna, Vishnu, Durga, and Ganesh. My family moved to America for a better life. They also attempted to form a business in America to continue the family name. Sadly for them, it was never very successful. My family has only managed to produce money with investments into land and stocks,
