EXPLORING QUADRILATERALS

Go to https://www.geogebratube.org/student/m51988
Explore the different types of quadrilaterals using Quadrilateral Makers. Move the
vertices to see what different examples look like. Try to create as many differentlooking examples as you can. As you go, fill in the table on the back using the given
instructions.
DifferencesWhat characteristics have changed from example to example? Once
you have written it down once, you do not need to note it again. The differences you
note dont have to change every time, but they should change some of the time.
SimilaritiesWhat characteristics seem to stay the same no matter what examples
you try? You may think that something stays the same, but then find an example that
counteracts that, so you might be doing some erasing. The similarities should stay
the same in all examples you create.
DefinitionTry to write a definition of the quadrilateral using your findings.
Definitions are written in complete sentences and do not use the word in the
definition.
Things to be looking forAngle measures, side lengths, at what angle the
diagonals intersect, size of quadrilateral, convex or concave, number of vertices, etc.

HOMEWORKTry to create a hierarchy or a flow chart explaining the relationships

between quadrilaterals. Think about questions like these: Are all rectangles
squares? Are all squares rectangles? Use your definitions to help you. Draw out your
hierarchy for class tomorrow.
