Date: November 12, 2014 Lesson Title: Solving Problems Purpose: Students will learn to deal with problems by looking at both sides of the situation and to see the problem in a neutral way that doesnt blame the other person. Focusing on the first step of the Problem Solving Steps- S: Say the problem. Materials: Poster, notebooks, pencils Introduction: I will call the students over to join me by sitting in their spots on the floor, I will present to them the poster of a picture that shows two young children arguing. I will then explain the picture, and say something about how problem solving occurs in our everyday lives. Procedure: 1) Call students over on the floor to sit in their spots. 2) Wait until I have their quiet attention to get started. 3) Present the poster picture 4) Tell them how problem solving happens every day in our lives 5) Go over the Problem Solving Steps saying the first letter of each step as the students will repeat, and the continue the step 6) Explain the photo and ask them questions about it 7) Give them scenarios, and ask them what type of ways they SHOULD respond Closure: Talk about what they learned today- Solving problems using the Problem Solving Steps- Step S: Say the Problem Evaluation: After I have presented my lesson, I will then have the students return to their desks, to their notebooks and have them write the step we went over, and then have them create a problem, and a way that they can solve that problem.
