Windows Explorer Enhancements
Search not working in Windows 2000 DWF files cannot be searched with the Windows Explorer search
command in Windows 2000. The workaround is to include an ! in front of the search string. For example, if you
are searching for the word Engineering in DWF files, enter !Engineering in the search field. Autodesk ID #

Drag and Drop
View problems in Word and Internet Explorer A DWF dragged into Microsoft Word does not save with the
correct view. This is a limitation of Microsoft Word: To save the correct view, exit Run mode and go back to Design
mode. The correct zoomed view will save. Autodesk ID # 695990
Embedded in PowerPoint In Slide Show view, a double click on the DWF file advances the slide instead of
opening the Viewer. Autodesk ID # 696902
To make the Viewer available in Slide Show view,

In PowerPoint in Normal View: Choose Insert > Object.... The Insert Object dialog box opens.

With the Create New option selected, from the Object type: list, select Autodesk DWF Viewer Control and
click OK to insert the object.

Right-click the object and select Autodesk DWF Viewer Control Object > Properties.

On the Source Path tab, type the DWF file path and file name.

To embed the DWF file, verify that the Do you want to embed a copy of this file in the parent document?
option is selected and click OK.
Tip: To link to the DWF file, leave the option unchecked and make sure that the DWF is accessible to the
user.

Once in Slide Show view, the embedded DWF file can be manipulated using tools on the Main Toolbar and the
Navigation Toolbar.

Works Better with Hardware Acceleration off To turn off, choose Tools > Options and click Enable Hardware
Acceleration to remove the check mark.
Resizing the navigator with a 3D DWF Resizing the Navigator with a 3D DWF open renders the application

3D Display
Problems with display and application crashing:
Ensure that you have the latest driver for your graphics card installed.
- or Turn off hardware acceleration (Tools > Options).
Some textures do not display correctly Instead there will be a checkerboard pattern. Autodesk ID # 712803
Note: CoClasses No Longer Working If you have bypassed the COM interface using CoClasses, this practice will
no longer work. Where you have formerly declared something as CAdDocument, change it to IAdDocument to go
through the COM interface.

Viewer.)
