Gee Article
I can connect this article to my life in many ways. The saying -doing aspect of my life is very different.
Growing up in the south, a lot of phrases are shortened or substituted for other words. For example
finna has substituted about to so is someone says Im finna go to the store they are about to go to
the store. The grammar of the sentence is incorrect but the language still gets across and the purpose is
communicated. I have read articles that have communicated in certain tones and styles that would be
foreign to other regions or cultures. For example the bible has different translations but the stories and
meanings are generally the same. This article helps people understand that grammar usage does not
have the same effects in different discourse communities. The language of the communities is very
different and may or may not be understood by someone who is not apart of the community. Grammar
and language in my opinion are separate things that are loosely related.
