November 20, 2014 Dear Parents & Guardians, We would like to schedule a time to meet with you to perform a development screening (assessment) on your child. The purpose of this assessment is for our teachers to better understand the needs of you child. Assessments will allow the teachers to work with your child in the mode that best fits your child. Together we can develop new and exciting learning strategies to use in school and at home. We would like to include you in the assessment process, best results for your child. You and the teachers will be included in the assessment process. Both teachers and parents, will work together to develop an academic plan for the child based on his/her needs. Teachers will use the assessment results to pin point where your child stands developmentally for their age. This will benefit the children because the teachers will be able to produce a plan to help your child grow developmentally by providing the assistance or extra practice in those areas where your child may need the most assistance. (Communication, gross motor, fine motor, personal social skills, problem — solving skills). Assessment and any other information collected will be used as a teaching tool. The assessment will be used as a baseline and will help the teachers determine where the child stands today and where parents & teachers would like to see the child grow. Information will be gathered in both the school and home setting; thru teacher-child interactions, teacher observations, parent interview, parent/teacher discussions. Respectfully, Ms. Valencia
