Dear Parents,
My name is Isis Palma, and I will be your childs second grade teacher for the remainder of the school
year. I graduated from Nevada State College with a major in Elementary Education with a concentration
in Bilingual Education, and I completed my student teaching in a second grade classroom at Cyril
Wengert Elementary. My first day at Hal Smith will be on Wednesday December 17, 2014.
I am very excited to begin my career at Hal Smith and I am looking forward to getting to know each
student and their parents. The students and I will share two main goals for the remainder of the year.
One is to master the rest of the second grade content material; we will do this through careful planning
and management on my part and through hard work on the students part. The second is to build a
caring classroom community where each student contributes positively as a good citizen. I will help the
students to do this by modeling respectful behavior toward them. I expect the students to treat me and
their fellow classmates respectfully. Please help us meet our goals by making sure your child is coming
to school prepared to learn. Eating a good breakfast and getting a good nights rest are essential parts of
a successful school day. If the parents, students and teacher work together we will have a wonderful
adventure.
I am enthusiastic about being your childs teacher and I am looking forward to working with him/her. If I
can be of help to you at any time, do not hesitate to contact me. I check my email frequently and will
most likely respond within one day.
