One server is priced about USD $1400 and the website Craigslist gets 1.75 millio
n posts per day. And the posts have average
of 14 days of lifecycle and all the posts have 60 retention days. which mean abo
ut 120 million posts are always on storage and
It means the data center hold about 1 terabyte all the time.
Servers are connected parrelle and the storages are on raid and they are aggrega
ted to perform 4000 search queries per second.
On top of that, the data center must be equipped with high performance router/sw
itch,firewall and IDC which would be needed
to provide stable service.
There are no information about how much money has been spent on the equipments a
nd to upkeep with the facillity.
But we can estimate around USD $1~2Million for network devices And to upkeep all
the facillity such as having leased internet service
and electricity(about 400watts for a server USD50 for a month USD600 for a year)
to run the servers and to keep it on cool temperature
about 1Million dollar a year for upkeep estimated.
