English Grammar- Agreement of


Subject and Verb

1. Subject pronouns: he, she, it, take the verb with the -s
ending (singular verb). E.g. He loves to read.
2. Subject pronouns: I, you, we, they, take the verb without the
-s ending (plural verb). E.g. They love to read.
3. Titles or names of companies, books, magazines, TV shows,
et cetera, take the verb with the -s ending (singular verb).
E.g. Rommana wa Bartal is their favourite (favorite)
television show. It is their favourite (favorite) television
show.
4. Units of time, distance, weight, money, sums of money... take
the verb with the -s ending (singular verb). E.g. Twenty
kilometres (kilometers) is a long distance. It is a long
distance.
5. If a singular noun, or pronoun is followed by words and
phrases such as: accompanied by, along with, as well as, in
addition to, like, with, including, together with... the verb
with -s ending (singular verb) is used. E.g. The man, along
with his friend works in a factory.
6. Indefinite pronouns, or expressions such as: anyone, anyone
of, everyone, everyone of, each, each of, someone, somebody,
anybody, everybody, nobody, no one, neither, neither of,
either, either of... take the verb with the -s ending (singular
verb). E.g. Everyone of the boys likes to eat mangoes.
