FELLOWSHIP
3. Fellowship Description:
SRI International Education Division has a Center for Technology in
Learning (CTL). Under this center is the Center for Innovative Research in
Cyberlearning (CIRCL). CIRCL focuses on current and future cyberlearning
projects that embed technology into the classroom and promote student
learning. During my Fellowship, I am researching these cyberlearning
projects and writing brief profiles about them. I am also interviewing
successful people in the cyberlearning community to understand their
perspective of the field. Through this Fellowship, we hope to bridge the gap
between researchers, innovators, and educators. I use Google Docs to
INSTRUCTION
1. Instructional Plan:
1. Flipped Classroom: Instruct teachers and staff to watch the provided
Prezi at home and post on the Padlet wall*. It is important to watch the
whole Prezi, although the last slides (Popplet and Google Docs) will be
completed together at the Professional Development (PD).
*PADLET NOTE: Please create your own Padlet Wall for your staff to post.

y
2. Introduction - Padlet Reflection: Begin the PD with the staff by
looking at the Padlet wall and their posts about learning. Quick discussion
on how Padlet can be used in their classrooms.
3. Application: Continue with Prezi by introducing Popplet and having
teachers get in groups of 2 or 3 to create a concept map about student
learning. After 10-15 minutes - share with the group! The sharing should
include 1) The different ways students can learn and how that translates to
the classroom practices and atmosphere. 2) The different materials and
technologies that could be used.
4. The next slide in the Prezi invites teachers to access a shared Google
Doc* This should be displayed for the whole group to see while each person
is accessing it from their own personal device. Demonstrate how anyone
(teachers and students) can collaborate in one document or presentation by
having everyone logged in to the document and writing their ideas.**
Lead a discussion of how students can use Google Docs in their classrooms.
*GOOGLE DOC NOTE: Please create your own shared Google Doc for your
staff to collaborate resources.
**GOOGLE DOC NOTE 2: It may be beneficial to go through the steps of
how to share a google doc. Here is a quick link for reference:

5. Assessment: Teachers will be sent a Survey Monkey survey for a
formative assessment one month after the Professional Development
lesson.* The survey includes questions like Did you use
Padlet/Popplet/Prezi/Google Docs in your classroom? How? If no, are
you planning on using Padlet/Popplet/Prezi/Google Docs? What help (or
other professional development) do you need in order to successfully
integrate good technology tools in your classroom?

*SURVEY MONKEY NOTE: Please create your own survey monkey for your
staff to receive personal data.
2. Supply List:
Computer
Internet Access
LCD Projector
BYOD for teachers (iPad/tablet is okay as long as it has the Popplet
and Google Drive apps)
