Process Paper

We began our project by thinking of what era in U.S. history that seemed interesting to
us. We wanted to choose someone who had accomplished something notable for his/her country.
We also wanted to do our project on someone whose actions still affect people today in many
ways. We had our topics narrowed down to Benjamin Franklin and Woodrow Wilson. As we
researched both of these topics, our chosen one started to become clear. Benjamin Franklin was a
great leader and left a remarkable legacy, but after some thought, we wanted to research
someone who had been a leader of a country. This is how we ended up deciding on Woodrow
Wilson. He was the 28th president of the United States as opposed to Benjamin Franklin, who
was never a president. Woodrow Wilson also left behind a legacy that affects us greater than
what Franklin did, because if he didnt give the statement of the Fourteen Points, World War I
could have possibly ended with far worse results than what happened. So with that thought, we
chose Woodrow Wilson because of his remarkable leadership and legacy.
We divided the historical background into 2 categories: the pre-Fourteen Points and
post-Fourteen Points eras. The former provides information on what was going on during
World War I while the latter provides information on how peace was achieved and what
happened after World War I. We further made more categories which included leadership,
legacy, and the conclusion. We also chose a website because it seemed like an interesting and
new way to make a project.
