THE DEVELOPMENT MATERIAL OF BAHASA INDONESIA ABOUT PHONEMIC


AWARENESS FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD (4-5 YEARS)

ABSTRACT
This research aims to obtain the material development of bahasa Indonesia in accordance to the needs of
early childhood (4-5 years) in terms of a form and contents which can stimulate the language skill of the
children in PAUD Bahrul Ulum Hasanah Mekarjaya, sub-district Sukmajaya Depok City, West Java.
Research method used is Reseach and Development (R and D) model of Bolitho and Jolly The steps of
the model are: 1) early research studyby conducting interview teacher and children to get need early
childhood appropriate program, 2) model development 3) validation, revision and evaluation model and 4)
implementation model. This research result as follows: 1) the material need of bahasa Indonesia is
phonemic awareness of educational toys integrated with data language, phonemic letters, word and
sentences, guided by teachers and 2) the existing material do not appropriate for early childhood, 3) the
development material are educational toys and teacher guidebook, 4) validation of experts and teacher
obtained educational toys, books and cards used bahasa Indonesia standard, 5) users perception declare
that the material development is appropriate with early childhood and 6) the material used effective
because the average yield users 2,53 range of value 4. Based on the result analysis can be inferred that
material bahasa Indonesia about phonemic awareness for early childhood (4-5 years) of PAUD Bahrul
Ulum Hasanah appropriate for children and can stimulate language skill, (listening, speaking, writing
readiness and reading readiness) and be used effectively.

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to get deep knowledge of metaphor; ( 1 ) based on the
creation of meaning , ( 2 ) based on images, ( 3 ) based on the meaning of field
ecosystem . And describes the functions of the metaphor in the novel Sepatu Dahlan by
Krishna Pabichara. The method used this study is content analysis. The approach of
this study is stilistika that is part of a qualitative approach. Steps of this research are
(a) intensif and repeat reading novel that will be research, (b) make notes every frase,
klause, or sentence of metaphor in the novel (c) identificate some things there are in
objective of this research and (d) do the analysis and do data interpretation.The results
of the data analysis , found 48 sentences included in the category of metaphor is based
on the creation of meaning , which consists of 8 sentence of blank symbols, 28
sentences of natural symbols and private symbols 16 sentences . Found 34 sentences
were included in the category of metaphors based on images, which consists of visual
14 sentences, 14 sentences auditory. Taklitis 7 sentences, gustative 2 sentences ,
images olfaktif 1 sentence . Found 55 sentences which are categorized based on the
ecosystem metaphor meaning field, which consists of 5 sentences being , cosmos 10
sentences , 12 sentences energy , to the category of substance is not found in the novel
. Terrestrial 3 sentences, the object 3 sentences, living 5 sentence , animate 7
sentences , 10 sentences of human. While the function of metaphor in the novel of
Sepatu Dahlan include expression language functions and communication of speech
acts consisting of illocutionary and perlokusionary .

Abstract
English holds an important role in communicating with global world. In the Federal
Republic of Germany, English is a foreign language. At the beginning, the country is
very exclusive to English used, however since the beginning of 20th century, the country
starts using English especially after Bologna Declaration in 1999. For this reason, this
topic is interesting to be explored about the English teaching learning process in
Germany mainly about the aim, the teaching learning process, the material, the
syllabus and the evaluation process. This research was conducted in
Fremdsprachzentrum, Bremen University, Germany. From the result it was found that
the learning methodology is very unique which the students are encouraged to actively
participate in the classroom, the lecture functions as friend or facilitator while the
evaluation based on the process and result so the students performances on English
can be evaluated clearly.

ABSTRACT
The objective of this study was to identify and understand comprehensively Character education
component in German language textbook Studio D level A1. It was a qualitative research with a
content analysis method carried out in Juni July 2013. The data were collected by reading the
textbook repeatedly till found the component of character education. The analysis and
interpretation found 6 types of Character education components: Moral Awareness 8 points,
Knowing moral values was 59 points, Perpective Taking was 10 points, Moral Reasoning was 7
points, Decision making was 9 points, Self-nowledge was 4 points. And the dominant
component that were found was knowing moral values.

THE EFFECT OF EXERCISE ARTICULATION AND EDUCATIVE GAMES AGAINST


VERBAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS IN CHILDREN WITH CELEBRAL PALSY

ABSTRACT
This study aims at determining the effect of exercise articulation and use of educational
games to verbal communication skills in children with cerebral palsy. This is a single
subject research was conducted on Nayla Alifah Firmansyah from April to June
2013.This study used ABA design which consisted of three stages. First, Basseline
phase 1 (A1) was the observation of verbal communication skills on Nayla AF. Second,
treatment phase (B) was the intervention or giving treatment on Nayla AF. Third, stage
Basseline 2 (A2) was a measurement to the treatment that was done on Nayla AF to
see the effect of articulation exercises and the use of educational games to the
expressive and receptive Nayla AF s verbal communication skills.The findings show (1)
articulation exercises effect against the verbal expressive communication skills cerebral
palsy by 3546 or 30%, (2) articulation exercises effect against the verbal receptive
communication skills cerebral palsy by 2980 or 25%, (3) the use of educational games
effect against the verbal expressive communication skills cerebral palsy by 1789 or
15%, (4) the use of educational games effect against the verbal receptive
communication skills cerebral palsy by 3471 or 29%, (5) articulation exercises have the
greater effect, that is 6526 or 55% against the verbal expressive and receptive
communication skills cerebral palsy compared by the use of educational games, that is
5260 or 45%, and (6) The results of research findings on the numbers 1 through 5 is
limited by healthy condition physically and psychologically of Nayla AF.

THE MISTAKE OF SYNTAX IN NARATION COMPOSITION

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research is in order to find the mistake of syntax in narrative composition.
The data were examined in the form of sentences, clauses, and phrases derived from the 40
narrative compositions made by the student of class VIII State Junior High 273 in 2012. . The
data were analyzed using errors of analysis Technique that be used in order to analysis data is
observation technique. Result of the research is the most highest level in narrative composition
in level of grammatical sentence is about 89,1 % by the most kind of mistake is in the bland
error. The following level is in level of clause is about 44,9 % by the most kind of mistake is in
misformation, meanwhile level of phrase is about 25,25 % by the most kind of mistake is in
misordering. The mistake is occurred because the influence of competence and performance of
student, strategy of study and technicof teaching in school with this not correct and also
sociolinguistic of learning which do not support. The mistake that be done by this student must
be refused because can make the effect to communication. Base on result of research can be
concluded were as the mistake of student in writing of narration composition can not be let
because can be disturb the communication. Because of that competence and the performance
of student must be increased continually through correct and interest strategy of study and
technique of teaching and also the existence of supporting of sociolinguistic of student in
environment of family, school, and society.

ABSTRACT
This research was aimed to provide in-depth understanding of how camparasion of segmental
and suprasegmental phonem in Arabic and Indonesian language. The research using the
techniques commonly used in the literature as the study with qualitatif approach. By using
content analysis methods and contrastive techniques, this study uses the research object data
are informative as textbooks, grammar books and scientific articles. Result of this study
indicated that: segmental phonem of Arabic and Indonesian have in common in their use, that is
by looking at the role of each phonem second language, wich may affect the meaning of words
and sentences, the difference in the segmental phonems occrred because the location and the
result of second langage pronunciation articulation. Suprasegmental phonem Arabic and
Indonesian language have the same in some from of stress and intonation, the use of the
symbol, and form sentences used, while the differences is in Arabic language there is a syllable
containing dhomir intent, that is shows the object, either directly or hidden. The differences
phonems contained in Arabic and Indonesian language can provide a troble when phonemes
are spoken by learners accustomed, then the difficultes are not resolved will lead to error, this
prducing a different meaning.

THE COMMENCEMENT SPEECH OF USA PUBLIC FIGURES

ABSTRACT
Public speech is an important social-cultural phenomenon in western culture and it is seen as a specific
way of sharing the characteristics of both oral and written discourse. In the United States of America,
commencement speeches have always been used as mean of sharing moral values and experiences of
the speakers to the graduates. It has also been used by the linguists as the subject of their content
analysis. In the past fifteen years, genre and its functions as an analysis tool, has contributed to the
practice of teaching and learning of English as well as to linguistics study.The primary data in this study
are the existing moves in the commencement speeches used by public figures in the United States of
America. The aims of the study are to examine the social function and structural moves of
commencement speeches as well as to uncover the moves generic structure of the speeches.The study
reveals that: 1) the social function of the commencement speeches represent the main purpose of the
speeches which is to inform as well as to persuade by inspiring the graduates, 2) the sequencing moves
structures represent the sub-social function of the speeches as well as the structure of the genre, 3) the
generic structures are used to form the moves structures , This research used systemic functional
linguistics approach of Halliday, emphasizing content analysis the bottom-up method. The research
findings are envisaged to promote understanding of how a speaker functions the speech and realize the
speech into its moves that form the structure of the speech.

This research is aimed to describe switching code and mixing code in the process of buying and
selling in the traditional market Ciputat Sount Tanggerang. The problem in this study is how the
mixed from of speech codes and code switching market sellers and buyers in Ciputat market?
Purpose of this study is to describe the mixed from of speech codes and code switching sellers
and buyers in the market Ciputat. This method uses reading method, recording method, and
research approaches, namely qualitative descriptive approach. The analysis of this research,
namely as bilingual and multilingual society, said people in the Ciputat market must also have a
language of communication between the seller and the buyer. Most of them mastered Javanese
and sundanese. Because that language was the firt controlled (mother tongue). And Indonesia
language that is used by sellers to communicate froms of speech in honor of the buyer, as seen
from the social status or in terms of appearance. As people said, sellers and buyers in the
market has a characteristic linguistic chester interesting to study. In Ciputat market arrivals often
people from other regions that produce forms of speech. In the actual communication process
each speaker is never any one variety of a particular language or dialect. Variety of languages
in one dialect to dialect is often referred to as a dialect code switching. Based on the results of
research advice to the public in South Tanggerang Market (sellers and buyers6) in the presence
of interfering code and code switching in society should uphold Indonesian as a unifying
language, and used in accordance with the place, conditions, goals, and needs.

IMPROVING ENGLISH READING ABILITY THROUGH LOOK AND SAY TECHNIQUE

ABSTRACT

The objective of the research is to improve English reading ability through Look and Say
Technique at SDIT AL MARJAN, BEKASI. The research was conducted in 2013. This
study used action research methods which involved two cycles. Improving students
reading scores become the main focus of this research. This research conducted at 27
of third grade students of SDIT AL MARJAN. Based on the data from the pre test, it
shows that the students competencies in reading English is still low. After given
treatment throughout the cycles (planning, acting, observing, and reflecting) in this study
and the results of post tests, the students ability in reading English had been improved.
Qualitative data analysis shows that the students are interested during the process.
They enjoyed the learning and they were active in each part of the process. The
students read better after the treatment. The result of the analysis is strengthen by
quantitative data analysis which shows in cycle I, t= 5,2, it means 2, 06< 5,2 and in
cycle II, t= 7,0 or 2, 06< 7,0. (t table 5% = 2, 06). Therefore, there is an improvement
in English reading through Look and Say technique.

THE QUALITY OF TESTS MADE BY BAHASA INDONESIA TEACHERS (AN
ANALYSIS ON SUMATIVE TEST, IN EVEN SEMESTER OF GRADE 7 AND 8
JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL IN LIMO SUBDISTRICT, DEPOK)

The general objective of this research is to investigate the quality of the questions in
tests made by Bahasa Indonesia teachers of three Junior High Schools in Limo
subdistrict, Depok. The main objective of this research is to gain empirical data on
causes that make the questions made by the teachers are invalid. The researcher uses
mixed methods. In order to investigate the quality of the questions, researcher does test
validity and reliability on the questions (quantitative). Next, in order to investigate the
causes that make the questions made by the teachers are invalid, the researcher
studies the questions based on Grunlond theory (qualitative). The researcher conducts
research in three schools, SMP Almanar, SMP Utama, and SMP Lazuardi. The
sumative test on Bahasa Indonesia in even semester for grade 7 and 8 of SMP Almanar
consists of 40 questions, SMP Utama has 50 questions for grade 7 and 40 numbers for
grade 8, and SMP Lazuardi has 25 questions. Therefore, the total number of the
questions investigated is 220 questions. From 220 questions, only 82 questions (37 %)
which are valid, 138 questions (63 %) are considered as invalid, 145 questions (66 %)
are reliable, and 75 questions(34 %) are unreliable. 60 Essay questions only 24 (40 %)
are valid, 36 (60 %) are invalid, 20 (33 %) aure reliabel, and 40 questions (67 %) are
unreliable. Conclusion, all of the 220 questions and 60 essay questions are not quality
enough. Based on the investigation on the questions, out of 220 questions on Bahasa
Indonesia, there are 114 mistakes on the questions; 2 questions do not have clear
obective, 2 questions whose negative statements do not have any particular stress
(written in bold type), 5 questions with ungrammatical structure; 12 questions whose
option on answers is not homogeneous; 1 question whose distraction is too hard for
underachieving student to understand; 50 questions whose verbal answer choices is not
in alphabetical order; and 2 questions whose number on answer choices is not arranged
numerically.

LEXICAL AND GRAMMATICAL COLLOCATION IN ENGLISH NARRATIVE
COMPOSITION

The objectives of this research were to profoundly understand and to solve lexical and
grammatical collocation errors made by the respondents of Accounting Academy Bina Insani,
Bekasi in 2013 on English narrative composition. By comprehension and solution finding it can
be supposed to tell how the collocations errors occurred, what caused the errors and how to
correct them. The research applied a descriptive qualitative approach with the content analysis
method. The approach gave the description of the object to be analyzed, such as words,
numeration, and diagram. And the method is expected to be able to find, to classify, to analyze,
to explain to count, to interpret collocation errors and to make conclusion based on the findings.
The data collecting procedure of lexical and grammatical collocation errors were as follows: a)
underlining all nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs as well as preposition; b) underlining the
words collocating; c)checking the truth of the collacations on Oxford Collocations Dictionary; d)
classify the lexical and grammatical collocation errors; and e) analyzing the lexical and
grammatical collocations errors. The data in this research derived from respondents narrative
composition in English. In the analysis and interpretation of the data it was found the right and
the wrong collocations. In case, only wrong collocation will be analyzed and corrected. The
wrong collocations are caused by the errors on lexical and grammatical collocations. The
errors in lexical collocations can be found in a) Adverb + Adjective; b) Adjective + Noun; c)
Noun + Verb; and d) Verb + Noun. While The errors in grammatical collocations can be found
in a) Verb + Preposition; b) Adjective + Preposition.The causes of lexical and grammatical
collocation errors were 1) Inter-language transfer; 2) intra-language influence; 3) Learning
condition; and 4) communicative strategy. And the errors on lexical and grammatical can be
corrected by: a) reducing the influences of Inter-language transfer, b) releasing influences of
intra-language, 3) Learning condition; and 4) communicative strategy can be improved by
enriching students knowledge toward grammar. The findings showed that respondents made
177 collocations consisting of 56% right collocations and 44% wrong collocations. Right
collocations consisted of 35% lexical and 21% grammatical collocations. Meanwhile wrong
collocations consisted of 19% lexical collocation and 25% grammatical collocations. Based on
the findings, 1) the English lecturers should find, collect, learn the lesson materials and teach
them to students; get involved student on learning process; and give collocation exercices.2)
Bina Insani Academy provides the collocation books and supporting facility like internet.

Abstract
This study aims to gain a deep understanding of how The Reader forming holocaust discourse
and problematic figures individually in addressing the history of the Holocaust itself. This study
also aims to show how the application of psychoanalysis sees the history in The Reader. This
research is a contents analysis using a qualitative approach. Qualitative methods is used to
understand the symbolic message of the discourse or text. Analysis was performed on the three
main characters, namely Hanna, Michael, and her Jewish victims of the holocaust. There are
two main theories of Sigmund Freud, namely aspects of personality and personality dynamics
which is focuses on the 'drive-reduction theory'. Both theories are used to describe the three
relationships that exist in the personality structure of each character, to see how they repress
memories of the past and represent about holocaust events. There are two main conclusions, it
can be worn psychoanalysis to examine the history of human life, second is about formulation of
the main issues raised in this research. Many discourses delivered each figure represents the
complexity of the problems facing society. In the end, this film brings the audience to get
solutions, peace between the warring parties to accept their past and make memories and
history as something that must be told to the next generation and viewed from the perspective
of historical actors.

The objective of this research is to find the similarities and differences between Indonesian and
Chinese Phonetics. This research also predicts the difficulty for Indonesian learners in learning
Chinese Phonetics. The data was collected from Indonesian and Chinese book. This research
used Phonology and contrastive analysis theory, and used a qualitative approach by using
Content Analysis methods, The results of the research are: Indonesian and Mandarin Phonetics
have similarities and differences, the difference is because Mandarin has tones that affect the
meaning and the differences in the area and how to articulate the sounds of Chinese. The
similarities between segmental phonemes Indonesian and Mandarin are vowels and consonants
have the same as: i, u, a, e, o, b, p, m, f, n, l. Suprasegmental phonemes Indonesian and
Chinese have similarities which is stress has been functioning at the level of the sentence.
While differences Segmental phonemes Indonesian and Chinese, Indonesian does not have a
vowel , do not have aspirated consonants, retrofleks consonants and has no effect on the
meaning of the tone that caused. The difference is predicted to cause difficulty for learners of
Mandarin.

Abstract
This study aimed to gain insight about learning Indonesian speaking skills based on objectives,
materials, methods, media, and evaluation. This study is a qualitative research method of
ethnography. Data were collected through observation, interviews, discussions, and
documentation. Analysis of data using domain analysis, taxonomic, and analysis of cultural
themes. The results showed that learning objectives are to improve the knowledge, skills, and
experience of the students in the use of Indonesian speaking properly. The materials are
articles, interviews, drama, and research reports. Methods: lectures, question and answer,
discussion, sosiodram, and tasks. Media ie whiteboard, images, videos, and Liquid Crystal
Display (LCD). Evaluation is the process evaluation and outcome evaluation.

ABSTRACT

The objective of this research was to improve the students reading comprehension in English
language through Directed Reading Thinking Activity learning strategy. It was a mixed research
with an action research method at State University of Jakarta. The research data were taken at
the students of Music Art Department Faculty of Languages and Arts State University of Jakarta
with 21 students and analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively.The data were collected through
observation, researcher and collaborator filed notes and achievement test. The data analysis
and interpretation indicated that there is an improvement in students reading comprehension.
Quantitatively, it was found that the students reading comprehension increased significantly
from the first until second cycles. Therefore, it concluded that the students reading
comprehension can be improved by using Directed Reading Thinking Activity learning
strategy.The findings lead to the recommendation for the lecturers to use Directed Reading
Thinking Activity learning strategy as an alternative strategy in teaching reading comprehension.
It is also recommended to other researcher to use this research for further reseach.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this research is to examine the influence of job design and self-efficacy on job
performance.The research was conducted to all of SMK teachers in the Regency of Bogor by
using a survey method with path analysis applied in testing hypothesis. This research used as a
sample of 120 teachers from 170 teachers was selected based on a simple random sampling
technique.The result of research indicates: (1) there is positive direct effect of job design on job
performance, (2) there is positive direct effect of self-efficacy on job performance, (3) there is
positive direct effect of job design on self-efficacy.

THE RELATION ABILITY CREATIVE THINKING AND MASTERY CONJUNCTION
WITH THE ABILITY TO WRITE NARRATIVE

ABSTRACT

This study is intended to find and determine the relationship of creative thinking skills
and mastery conjunction with the ability to write narrative. This correlational study was
conducted in SMP PGRI Kalimulya in Depok. This study uses three types of data collection
instruments. Developed instrument variables are ( 1 ) a test instrument to measure the ability to
compose narrative writing, ( 2 ) instrument in the form of objective tests ( multiple choice ) to
measure the ability to creative thinkingly and student mastery of conjunctions. Calculation
relations creative thinking abilities ( X1 ) with the ability to write narrative ( Y ) to prove the value
of the correlation coefficient ( ry1 ) = 0.205 and the coefficient of determination ( R Square ) =
0.759, indicating that 75.9 % of the ability to write narrative is influenced by the ability to creative
thinking. While the calculation of mastery conjunctions ( X2 ) with the ability to write narrative ( Y
) to prove the value of the correlation coefficient ( ry2 ) = 1.413 and the coefficient of
determination ( R Square ) = 0.769 , indicating that 76.9 % of the ability to write narrative
influenced by the mastery of conjunctions. Thus, mastery of conjunctions consistently have a
direct connection with the ability to write narrative. Furthermore, the ability to creative thinkingly
( X1 ) and mastery of conjunctions ( X2 ) with the ability to write narrative ( Y ) to prove the value
of multiple correlation coefficient ( ry12 ) = 0.896 and the coefficient of determination (ry12 ) 2 =
0.820 , which indicates that 82 % of the ability to write narrative is influenced by the creative
thinking skills and mastery of conjunctions together. Thus, mastery of conjunctions consistently
have a direct connection with the ability to write narrative. Meaning that the higher a person's
mastery of conjunctions, the higher the ability to write narrative. Vice versa, the lower the lower
the person's mastery of conjunctions then the lower the ability to write narrative. Based on the
calculation of the contribution and significance of these three variables showed that the ability to
write narrative would be much better if they also have the ability to creative thinkingly and
mastery of conjunctions are good also.

ABSTRACT
The objetive of this research is deeply to understand the English language learning
process at the State Junior High School 1 Tangerang. It was a qualitative research with an
ethnography method conducted at junior high school in 2012/2013. The data were collected by
using interview, participant observation, and documentation study. The data analysis and
interpretation indicates that: (1) The aims of teaching english at the school is to increase the
studentss competency in the four language skills namely listening, speaking, reading and
writing; (2) The choice of learning materials are students-oriented ; (3) Methods of teaching are
suited to the students capacity and subject matter; (4) The system of evaluation done in two
ways, namely assessment process and results. The recommendation of the study is to add
source of learning material, every English teacher always improve the quality of teaching
through a variety of scientific activities.

The correlational study between vocabulary mastery and reasoning

ABSTRACT
The objective of this research is to determine the relationship between students
vocabulary mastery and reasoning toward ability of English argumentative writing. This
research is a descriptive research with correlational technique which is conducted at Language
and English Literature Department Islamic State University Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. This
reseaarch covers three variabels they are students vocabulary mastery, reasoning and
ability of English argumentative writing.The results of this research are; (1) there is
positive correlation between vocabulary mastery and abillity of English argumentative writing,
(2) there is positive correlation between reasoning and ability of English argumentative writing,
(3) there is positive correlation between vocabulary mastery and reasoning toward ability of
english argumentative writing. Based on the above result, it can be concluded that students
English argumentative writing can be improved by improving vocabulary mastery and
reasoning.

Abstract
This study aims to identify and understand thoroughly foreign language education contained in
Pelangi Melbourne Novel by Zuhairi Misrawi. This research is qualitative method. This analysis
uses a structural study semiotic during April-June 2014.
The study, the data source is a Pelangi Melbourne. The Data collected by reading over and over
reset in order to understand and obtain data on language education foreigners in the form factor
personal and socio-cultural factors structural study of semiotics. After analyzing and doing
interpretation is based on the theory foreign language learning, researchers find personal and
social factors culture in the form of icons 42 (36%) index of 58 (52%) and the symbol of 10
(13%). Third the semiotic provide interpretation about foreign language education contained in
the novel.
The novel gives an explanation that language education is not only requires learning English but
the living environment and learning must support. In personal, all students must have believe
that self-nature both within the class and outside the classroom so that he is ready to
communicate, eliminating anxiety and so forth. In addition, educational institutions must also be
provide student residence so it is easy and convenient for students practice the English
language without Indonesian rule out as national language.
