Introduction

People are an incredibly important part of the

goal attainment process. Like it or not, no
matter what you are doing, youre going to
require some kind of partnership. Even
award winners recognize those who helped
them along the way. Ultimately, you achieve
your goals precisely because you know how
to leverage partners and opportunities. You
may need investors, accountants, teachers,
coaches, customers, a date to a wedding.
Whatever it is youre doing, youre not doing
it alone. Interacting, collaborating, and
partnering with other people is an important
part of how you grow, move forward, and
ultimately achieve success. Often, if youre
already successful its easy to forget, or take
it for granted, that people and partnerships
are important. Sometimes, you get rusty on
building partnerships. For others though,
its just difficult to start. This worksheet is
designed to help you get started. Remember,
everyone has a purpose in your life. There is
no reason why you cant call on the people
you know to assist and support you as you
take the steps necessary for goal attainment.

The People Pyramid

The People Pyramid (above) is a guide to

help you determine who you will need for
information, assistance, or support to achieve
your goal. Whenever possible, begin at the
bottom level. Its always best to consider the
myriad ways to get information or assistance
in the least expensive way. On this page is a
brief description of each level so you can
decide where you need to begin.
Family/Friends/Groups (F/F/G) - these are the
people with whom you are closest; whose
opinions and knowledge you trust.

Networking groups can be included here if

they are free and you utilize them for
maximum benefit.
Referrals from F/F/G - these are the people
that your closest friends, colleagues, and
family know and trust.
F r e e C o n s u l t a t i o n s - t h e s e a re t h e
professionals that have information you
need.
Take advantage of this whenever
possible. Free consultations can include
referrals from F/F/G, those youve met at
networking events, downloads from a
website, or calling in response to an ad you
came across.
Paid Professional - the top tier, your last
stop. After collecting as much information as
you can from your sources these are the
professionals you hire to provide you with
needed services or information. Paid
memberships to various groups are also
included here.

Tying it all together

Calling upon others for help can seem
daunting but it neednt be. First, identify who
youll need to collaborate with and for what
purpose. If youre not sure who specifically
youll be connecting to (by name) but you
already know for what purpose, go ahead
and make a note of it. You might not always
know the person at the beginning of your
journey but you usually know what
particular interactions youll need to engage
in to move forward. Eventually youll meet
the who to go with the purpose and of
course, you could always ask someone on
your pyramid for a referral. Once you are
crystal clear on what goals you want to
achieve, finding the right partner is the next
step. Use the worksheet on the next page to
begin.
