Assignment 3: Office Automation

1. What is computer Office Automation?
Office automation refers to the varied computer machinery and software used
to digitally create, collect, store, manipulate, and relay office information
needed for accomplishing basic tasks and goals.
2. Explain briefly what is a word processor, spreadsheet, database and
others that we can find in MS Office.
Word processor (more formally known as document preparation system) is a
computer application used for the production (including composition, editing,
formatting, and possibly printing) of any sort of printable material.
Spreadsheet is a computer application that simulates a paper worksheet. It
displays multiple cells that together make up a grid consisting of rows and
columns, each cell containing either alphanumeric text or numeric values.
Database is an integrated collection of logically related records or files
consolidated into a common pool that provides data for one or more multiple
uses.
3. List and explain briefly two features that we can use in MS Word, Excel,
Publisher, Access, PowerPoint and Frontpage.
MS Word
1) Use of alternate text for images in Word documents.
2) Use of styles & formatting for marking up headers and lists.
