Goal: Learners will download


Skype, create a profile, gather
contacts and make a Skype call to
connect with a friend or family
member.

Terminal Goal: Using a Mac computer, learners will


make a Skype call by successfully downloading the
Skype application, creating a Skype profile, gathering
contacts and making a Skype call to connect with a
friend or family member.

1.0 Create a Skype account

1.0 Given a Mac computer, learners will successfully


create a Skype profile by creating a username and
password.
1.1 Given a Mac computer, learner will open up a webbrowser by locating and launching a web-browser.
1.2 Given the web address, learners will successfully go to
Skypes website. Learners will type in
http://www.skype.com in the address bar and then click
enter.
1.3 Given a demonstration, learners will select sign in
option to create an account.

agree to the terms of use and privacy statement by reading
the terms and conditions and then clicking I agree.
2.0 Given a Mac computer, with 1GHz Intel processor,
Mac OSX 10.5.8+, learners will successfully download
the Skype application based on their device type.
2.1 Given a demonstration, learners will download the
correct Skype application by opening a web-browser and
going to Skype.com and clicking download on the correct
Skype application for their device.

2.2 On the desktop click on the


Skype application.

on the Skype icon by locating the application on the
desktop.

2.3 Drag the icon to the


applications folder to initiate
installation.

Skype application by locating the Skype in the application


files and double-clicking on it to open it.
3.0 Given Skype names, email addresses, and phone
numbers, learners will successfully add contacts by
searching for contacts and adding them to their
contacts list.
3.1 Given a Mac computer, learners will login to their
Skype account by double clicking on the Skype icon and
logging in with their username and password.
3.2 Given an image of the search address button on
Skypes homepage, learners will click on the search
address button by moving the curser and clicking in the
search address box.
3.3 Given a demonstration, learners will successfully
search and add contacts to their contacts list by one of the
following methods: typing in first and last names, Skype
usernames, or email addresses of friends and family in the
search address button in Skype.
3.4 After selecting the correct contact, learners will send a
contact request to the friend/family member by selecting
the contacts name, clicking add contact and then clicking
send a contact request.
4.0 Given a Mac computer, learners will successfully
place a Skype call to a friend or family member.
4.1 Given a Mac computer, learners will successfully
login to Skype by logging in with their username and
password.
4.2 Given an image of the contacts icon on Skypes
homepage, learners will locate their contact list in Skype
by clicking on the contacts icon.
4.3 Using the contacts list, learners will successfully
locate a recipient by clicking on the desired contact in
their contacts list.
4.4 Given an image of the video call button, learners will
successful place a video call to a friend or family member
by clicking the video call button.

b. Description of Data to be Collected

Students will be verbally assessed for computer skill level prior to instruction.
Students will be monitored in small groups to ensure optimal acquisition of skills.
Students will add family members to their Skype address book.
Student will demonstrate mastery by successfully contacting another learner in the
classroom.
Student will demonstrate mastery by successfully completing a multi-person/conference
call to other students in classroom.
Students will be asked about the learning process, the effectiveness of content, if the
learning outcome met expectations, and additional training needs.
Student will participate in a pre-survey to collect knowledge on basic computer skills and
attitude toward computer use.

C. Description relationship between data analysis and project improvement


Based on pre-survey, instructor determines which objective to use as the entry point of Skype
lesson. Based on personal statements of attendees curriculum may be simplified or enhanced to
meet participant needs. Based on the learners level of mastery of completing task of making
Skype call, training will be simplified or enhanced. Based on observation of students behavior
and motivation training may be modified to increase students success.
