Title: Musical Interpretation

Preparation:
In the first lesson the following will be covered
Sheet music to the National anthem
Different interpretations
The effect of each interpretation
Phrasing of the national anthem
Style
rhythm
Process & Personalization: (teaching sequence &

1. Each student will be given the sheet music
for specified instrument and lyrics to
national anthem. 2 min
2. Students will watch various interpretations
of the national anthem and see the effects
they have both positive and negative 10
min
3. The key, articulation, style, tempo, and
phrasing will be discussed before rehearsal
of the song.5 min
4. Next each student will then be responsible
for creating their own interpretation of the
national anthem. 20 min
5. After that has been done volunteers will
come and perform their musical
interpretation for the class. 15 min

Next class:
1. Students will review musical interpretation
of the national anthem.
2. Remainder of students will perform their
rendition of the national anthem.
3. Effects of musical interpretation will be
emphasized to students
