AZTEC DEATH RITUALS

Death in Aztec is directly

involved with religion of Aztec.
The afterlife was mostly based
on how they died, not how they
lived. They believed there were
13 levels of heaven and 9 levels
of underworld. If a warrior died
in a war people believed he
would go to heaven and could
reincarnate. But if someone
died by a natural cause people buried the person with objects
which would help them go through the long journey, the
journey was going through 9 levels of underworld; hold
reddish brown dogs tail and across the river, go through space
between mountains, climb up gravel wall, meet gust of wind,
go through flags, face arrows that are flying, meet beast which
aims for heart, pass maze, and finally the person would arrive
at Mictlan.
