Dear Lonnie Brewer,

6 November 2014

Hello, my name is Morgan Reid and I am excited to assist in coaching the TRHS freshman womens
basketball team this season. I am student teaching this semester at Roosevelt in a Junior English
classroom. I played basketball for Drake University for 4 years. In order to stay part of the game I have
decided to begin coaching, and I am looking forward to getting to know you and see you succeed
academically and athletically. Having been a student-athlete for most of my life, I understand that it can
be difficult at times but it is possible. I want to help you in any way I can.
I am concerned about your eligibility for the season as grade checks are just around the corner. I am
looking forward to getting to know you and having a great basketball season!
According to the new eligibility policy, if a student receives a D or F at grade checks, they will be
unable to compete (unless they have a waiver signed) until their grade is raised to passing. Lets not rely
on waivers and be proactive in the classroom!
Keep in mind, if you have a D or an F in any class at semester, you will be unable to compete for 1530 days. Missing 15 days because of a D would mean missing about 6 games. And missing 30 days due
to an F would mean missing the second half of the season! I want to see you succeed both on and off
the court.
Please come see me in room 2800 before or after school only, by Tuesday, 11 November 2014 to
discuss your plan to raise your grades.
Practice begins this Monday the 10th of November at 3:15pm. Come dressed and ready to get better!

See you sometime this week before or after school to discuss your grades!

Morgan Reid
