Peer Review for ENGW3302

To: Phaelyn Kotuby

From: Billy Blanco

Summary
The paper focuses on the importance of network security in todays digital age, where
information that is personal or classified is constantly targeted and taken. Because this
information is sensitive, the text specifically focuses on cryptography, an area of network
security the author believes to be the answer to network security risks. By creating breakthroughs
in cryptography, the text states that an unbreakable encryption may one day be created, and such
a breakthrough may come from quantum computing.
Major Points
While the author of the paper has a clear and concise objective in their writing, the
knowledge front of the text is at first stated to be cryptography. This however is too broad of a
knowledge front as it applies it to a whole field of knowledge, which is not necessarily true as
encryption technology has had breakthroughs since its conception. The author does however
quantum computing as a means to create new knowledge in the field, and should instead focus
more on this point as it seems as this may be the knowledge front in this field.
The paper does however, do a great job on offering the evidence used and specifically
validating its strength in its field. The text makes it clear that the authors of the article on which
it is based on are qualified researchers and have the credentials and evidence to back their claim.
It is also commendable that the author of this text clearly is interested and is passionate about the

subject, which translates well into the importance of this subject, network security, especially in
todays world.
Minor Points
While the paper contains minor grammar and punctuation mistakes, it is something to be
expected of a draft paper and will undoubtedly be fixed by the final draft. The paper also needs a
title and an acknowledgements page, and the Works cited page may need to be formatted to
include the indent between the first and second line of each source.
