Language Obj.-SW be able to solve each type of problem on the mountain math board which
covers all of the grade 3 math common core standards. (Addition, subtraction, multiplication,
division, fractions, money, time, number lines, number sentences etc.)
Procedures:
I: TW lead a discussion on why we do mountain math. SW participate in discussion and talk
about why they think mountain math and the concepts covered in it are important. TW talk about
how mountain math allows them to cover all the objectives they need to know in one activity and
by the end of the year, they will be able to answer every question on the board correctly and with
purpose. It will be a great summative assessment.
GP: Together, SW/TW go over each question on the worksheet together and how to do each type
of problem no matter the numbers/amounts. From now on when students do mountain math they
will turn in their work for a grade. Today's work will be their template for how to do mountain math
in the future, #1-24, so that they will have an example to turn to for how to do each type of
problem if they get stuck.
Diff/acc.: seating arrangements, small groups, extra time to complete work, work with teacher.
Cl: TW wrap up today's work with a review discussion and SW complete an exit ticket in which
they must solve a problem from the bulletin board.
