Shea Stanley uwrr 1100 Midterm Reflection
Dear Ms. Douglas,
‘Throughout the time that I have been in this writing course we have worked
on many things for example our daybook.| feel like I have worked very hard to keep
up with and update my entries into my daybook, so I would say that I would give
putting a lot of my personal opinions into my work. I believe that adding my own

personal thoughts into my writing gives my work an above average grade because
try to focus on the context rather then just getting my work done. The reason it isn’t
above and beyond though is because some entries are not as long as they should be
but have the context and personal thought that I believe should be included, just.
excluding the details.

While in class I really learn a lot while listening to both you and my ae
try to be involved in discussions and like the responsibility of being in charge of
group papers; for example our slam poetry. | like working with my peers and
helping everything come together. In class I feel like I partieipate enough to where —
I'm more than comfortable to be called on for a questi c randomly, al involving
my preparation skills. These reasons make me believe thattdeserve a grade
between and A and B. I believe I participate more than the average kids in our class
but I also believe that I could do better and be even more prepared for class and
raise my hand to answer or make an opinion more often.
Although we have been discussing literacy for the majority of the semester |
seem to find myself in a place where I still haven’t experienced as much of it as 1
should. | love to read and follow the adventures and feed off of the social lives of the
characters [ead about but | feel ike I don't read enough. In high school used to
read all the time but now in college, the only reading I have is the educational
readings of my textbooks. The literacy of the textbooks are great for gaining a new
perspective of writing. I wonder how I prioritize my time for my personal reading
and my required readings. The issues that I'm running into though with my required
readings is the vocabulary that I'm struggling to understand, I wish to be able to
read without having to look up the meaning of a work every other page.
For my overall assessment for the course | feel like I have yet to reach my full
potential which troubles me on when I will reach it. Right now I would grade myself
to range between a C and a B. My work, especially my papers need to have more of
my own thoughts into it that an audience can relate to. That is what I struggle with is
relating to my readers. Once I learn how to accomplish that, I hope to possibly finish
the class with a high B or a low A. My questions are is what can I do to improve my
papers to reach my goal. I also need to continue to work hard on my daybook and
continue to come to class everyday prepared and “a for es questions to be
answered.
