WHAT TO STUDY AND FROM WHERE:

FOURTH SEMESTER
REAL ANALYSIS:

A core subject of mathematics however our syllabus is very compact, making it easy to score. Refer
the notes your teacher provides in class, along with Mathematical Analysis, 4 Edition by S. C. Malik
and Savita Arora for a better understanding and for solving questions.

LINEAR ALGEBRA:

This subject is lengthy; however, it is interesting and easy to understand. Just following your notes for
theory and Schaum's Outline of Linear Algebra by Marc Lars Lipson and Seymour Lipchitz for
questions should do the work.
Note: Dont leave this subject for the end.

DIGITAL SYSTEM AND LOGIC DESIGN:

Fundamentals of Digital Circuits 2 Edition by A. Anand Kumar, for major portion of the syllabus
should be referred to from the first day of the semester. This subject requires A LOT OF practice and
hard work if you want to get a decent score. Also refer to the VHDL notes and programs that have
been included.

OBJECT ORIENTED PROGRAMMMING:

For those who are familiar with C++ and Java, this subject is a breather. For those from a non
programming background, this subject is very simple and its programs are also very easy. Very easy to
score. Refer Object Oriented Programming with C++ 5th Edition by E Balagurusamy AND Programming with
Java: A Primer 4 Edition by E. Balagurusamy only.

SCIENTIFIC COMPUTING:

A good knowledge of using scientific calculators is essential to score marks. This subject is extensively
formula based and requires practice. Attend classes for this subject regularly, that way you will have
to do minimum self study. Practice questions from Numerical Methods in Engineering and Science
with Programs in C and C+ + by B. S. Grewal.

COPUTER ORGANISATION AND ARCHITECTURE:

This is a very challenging subject, which involves a lot of rote learning and difficult concepts. It is very
important to follow this subject from the very first day; else it will become a headache for you.
Practice every single problem, flow chart and diagram from Computer System Architecture 3 Edition
by M. Morris Mano.
Note- Dont take this subject lightly.
