Let writing occur organically, not as a kind
of drill Encourage students to work collaboratively during the prewriting stage Set a purpose for the writing Encourage students to establish goals and selfregulate their own writing Ask inquiry questions that lead to students thinking about their approach to writing Foster abstract conceptualization with authentic writing pieces as models Allow student to approach the writing process in a non-linear but still organized fashion. They can come back to the prewriting stage at any point!
