Slow and Fast

Slow
Some changes take place slowly. They
are called slow changes.
Eg: Growth of plants is a slow change.

Fast
Some changes takes place fast. They are
called fast changes.
Eg: Burning of paper is a fast change.

Periodic and Non-Periodic

Periodic
Changes which are repeated after regular
intervals are called periodic changes.
Eg: The occurrence of day and night,
Change of periods in your school

Non-Periodic

Changes which do not take place periodically


Eg: Freezing of water to form ice

Desirable and Undesirable

Desirable
Some changes are useful to us. They are
called desirable changes.
Eg: blooming of flowers, ripening of Fruits

Undesirable
Some changes are not useful to us. They
are called undesirable changes.
Eg: Decaying of fruits and vegetables

Reversible and Irreversible

Reversible
If the substance can be brought back to its
original form is called a reversible change.
Eg: On heating, ice melts and converts into
water and Water on cooling, changes into ice

Irreversible
If the substance cannot be brought back to
its original form is called irreversible change.
Eg: Rusting of iron and growth of a plant

Physical and Chemical

Physical
New form or shape formed without
forming as new substance
Eg: breaking of glass

Chemical
New form or shape formed due to
chemical reaction
Eg: Bursting crackers
