Abstract/Unit Overview

This binder contains a thematic unit based

on the European Renaissance. Lessons are
based upon the important inventions, art, and
people of the time. It is for fourth grade, and
also includes the proper materials to
successfully carry out each lesson till
completion.
In the beginning is a plan that states how I
wish to execute the management of my
classroom. Followed by my classroom
management plan, is a letter to my students
parents welcoming them to my classroom
experience. Included after are my thematic
unit lessons.
In the classroom, there are many different
types of learners. Each lesson was designed
with the Understanding By Design (UBD)
format in mind. The first two lessons were
made with an exploratory template, provided
by the Immaculata Education department. The
last two lessons were completed using two
separate UBD specific templates. The lessons

include video and visual materials, to promote

the stimulation of the students cognitive
functioning. Each lesson also includes intense
collaboration, both student to student and
teacher to student, for the purposes of self
reflection on what knowledge is being
processed. There is nothing more important
than an active, student centered classroom. As
you read the lessons, hopefully you will
understand my display of importance, for the
various forms of content/material presentation;
and the many styles of learning that will take it
on.
