JOURNAL: Writers Block
I think some of the rules that interfere with "the blockers" writing are: one of the first rules
that came up was Ruth's limitation of sentences. "If sentences aren't grammatically correct, they aren't
useful" (Mike Rose, paragraph 16). Another rule was "You must always make three or more points in
an essay" (Mike Rose, paragraph 17). The last rule that caught my attention was Martha's. She cannot
advanced to writing a first draft before she had a complex and remarkable outline. I think the rule that
could better relate to myself is writing a complex outline, or brainstorming really well before starting my
first draft. The difference between non-blocker rules and blockers are that blockers are anxious and
have many restrictions. In the other hand non-blockers have more freedom to mix up ideas, but making
sense with them. In my opinion algorithm is a process where you could always find a specific answer or
solution. Heuristic in the other hand, is a step that could lead you to an answer. An example of algorithm
could be can be a gps, which gives you an exact direction. Heuristic could be like me asking a friend for
directions, and he sends me to a place where I could get more specific directions but not the final
destination. Based on Rose's study a rule good for writers is when they have freedom to express
themselves without restrictions, but at the same time it has to make sense. Bad rules for writers are
those that limit the writers imagination to express themselves.
