Current Issues in Educational Technology

We were asked to choose a current or emerging issue in educational technology and state why
we choose that particular topic and expand. I choose the article Top ten issues shaping todays
technology uses in education The issue represented in this article is why people are still
skeptical on why educational technology should be utilized in the classroom and whether it is a
good option or not . I chose this post and this issue because I think that there are many different
and wonderful tools available to educators now that we could not have imagined possible in the
past, but unfortunately with all of these advancements and resources many educators are not
utilizing them properly and they are becoming more distractions than an aid to learning as they
should be. With this being said that leaves a lot of skeptics who doubt that these technologies
should be allowed in the classroom and it creates a strain in the push for technology use in the
classroom. In the article it lists the top ten issues that are holding technology use in the classroom
back. One of the most important reasons being accountability and the standards movement.
Accountability is an important factor in judging whether certain educational technologies are
helping in the classrooms and not just a crutch, and if the standards are still being met. The ten
reasons listed are the main reasons why I feel that education technology is still making a slow
start. To further expand on this topic I found three other articles and posts listed below in the
