Final Successes and Failures Reflection

Now that it is the end of the semester, I have done more than I could ever imagine after
one semester as a college student. In my College One class, I was able bring up my grade from a
D to a B+. I felt very happy in this class when my group and I received an A on our College
One poster board for the book, The Madonnas of Echo Park. My group and I used our time
wisely to extensively research accurate information and to make the poster board the best in the
class and for the judges, students, and professors attending the presentation event. While doing
this poster with the group, I learned that working with others effectively increased our chance in
getting a good grade. I also learned how to contribute to group discussions in class and work
better because I was able to improve my social skills.
In the midterm reflection, I reflected on my least successful assignment, which was my
first group presentation in Speech 1 class. I received a D+ because on my third speech I did on
last minute and did not prepare well, it did not reach the time requirement. On my next speech I
did my research and prepared well, I got a B+ on the speech. I did not get all the points because I
was a day late because I had something urgent pop up. This time, I obtained reliable and accurate
information from the articles provided in the Shatford Library online instead of suspicious
information from websites on the internet. Through this process, I learned that the internet does
not and will not always provide the most reliable sources. I also learned that I enjoyed working
on speeches because it would help me out later in the future. (320 words)
