Te Bus Bill
Subject: Bus Regulation (Scottand) Bill
Hilain
‘Many thanks for taking the time to hold a meeting in Kelty on 19th August 2013 re the above.
1am in support of the above Bill.
| would again wish to emphasise my point regarding the Edinburgh - Dundee / Perth Citylink Service. The
main route for this ‘limited stop’ service is via the M90 /A9O. After leaving the Ferrytoll Park and Ride, the
bus has pick up points for passengers en route in Dunfermline before proceeding up the M90 to Kinross
and Milnathort (which is a smail village with a population of <2000 residents - Kelty has almost 6000). It
strikes me as scandalous that this service by-passes Kelty without making a single stop thus forcing
commuters etc. to drive either to Dunfermline / Kinross / Ferrytoll to board this service or attempt to get
connecting services ( which seldom actually connect without a timely wait).
There were other individuals at the meeting who stated the following very valid points:
- Lack of public transport services and the impact on employment opportunities
= The safety of commuters during inclement weather having to rely on several services in a bid to return
home safely
You mentioned the word 'imbalance' numerous times throughout your speech - | truly believe, there is a
lack equity in public transport: services for all ages of the Kelty community compared to other neighbouring
villages and towns that sit on main transport routes e.g. M90 and A92 thus not only restricting the
employment opportunities but impacting on the work-life balance of those who do rely on public transport
services to take them to and fro work due the extended commute, Furthermore, the additional car
journeys to Park and Ride facilities in neighbouring towns or those who decide to drive because the
commute via public transport is timely or is too much hassle, can only add to the carbon footprint which
‘must surely conflict with Environmental Policy?
In the light of the above, | ask that you raise my concerns with Stagecoach, the parent company of Citylink
in order to re-dress the balance of public transport facilities within our community.
1 appreciate that there are other services / bus routes (or lack thereof) that have fundamentally failed our
community and on behalf of others who rely on such services, again | would ask that you attempt to
redress this balance through introduction of your Bill.
I trust you will find the above in order,
Yours sincerely
Jane Duffy
