MacKenzie A (AI Christopher L2velc 15 August 2013 18:43 Bus Bill Better bus campaign Asa supporter of the Better Buses campaign, I am writing to give my backing to the Bus Regulation (Scotland) Bill Lagree that Scotlands local bus services should be re-regulated to help deliver a better quality of service for passengers, also support giving the Transport Commissioner greater powers to impose financial penalties on providers that fail to deliver an agreed level of service. Bus de-regulation has failed bus users who have paid ever rising fares in return for an ever diminishing service. It’s also failed those that have lost their local service, and it’s failed the environment by pushing more and more people into ear ownership. While I acknowledge that these proposals will involve some additional spending, we can’t expect a good service on the cheap and a well-funded, regulated bus service would bring broader economic benefits (o local communities.
