MacKenzie A (Alan) From: Stu Roney TT - Sent: 15 August 2013 16:38 To: Bus Bill Subject: Better busses consultation As a supporter of the Better Buses campaign, I am writing to give my backing to the Bus Regulation (Seottand) Bill agree that Scotland's local bus services should be re-regulated to help deliver a better quality of service ‘for passengers. also support giving the Transport Commissioner greater powers to impose financial penalties on providers that fail 10 deliver an agreed level of service, Bus de-regulation has failed bus users who have paid ever rising fares in return for an ever diminishing service, It’s also failed those that have lost their local service, and it’s failed the environment by pushing more and more people into car ownership. While I acknowledge that these proposals will involve some additional spending, we can’t expect a good service on the cheap and a well-funded, regulated bus service would bring broader economic benefits to local communities.
