Joseph McDer0tt 07 August 2013 10:14 Bus Bill BUS Bill ‘have read with interest the proposals for the bus bill, and frankly speaking it is not before time. Since de-regulation we have seen the bus transport industry as.a free for all, with operators picking and choosing what foutes they wish to operate, with non-profitable routes being cast aside. The ironic thing about this is that when non-profitable routes are put out to tender the original operator of the route normally wins the contract to provide the service. | also think that there should be an investigation into the role Local authorities plays (Strathclyde Partnership for Transport) in public transport. Just lately (SPT) have increase the fares on the Subway because of operating costs however there has been no increase in departure charges since 2009 which operators pay for the use of SPT bus stations. It would appear there is a disparity here. Jam all in favour of regulating bus services; indeed I would go further and bring them back into public ownership. Joe
